The Power that Improvements on Supply Chains using Blockchain has on Global Social Impact, with Samantha Ouyang and TKS This is part 2 of a 4 part continuing series on the Knowledge Society Samantha Ouyang, TKS Activator Samantha is a 17 y/o TKS Activator who has been working in blockchain research and development for the past 18 months, taking special interest in the social impact of blockchain. She first started off by researching cryptography, the technical workings behind blockchain, and current limitations, publishing her own articles and videos explaining technical components and reviewing interesting applications. She then moved into blockchain development after teaching herself Solidity, building her own decentralized applications (dApps) and other blockchain-related projects to tackle global issues. This included dApps and frameworks to secure property rights in developing countries, prevent cyberattacks on nuclear power plants, render the pet industry more transparent, combat bias in AI, and reduce blood donation expiry, winning hackathons and other competitions that allowed her to present her ideas to companies such as S&P Global. Her efforts compounded and she was soon presented with a job offer.  For 5 months, she worked as a smart contract developer at ViewFin, a global fintech company based in Toronto and Shanghai. As the youngest employee, she integrated a decentralized indexing protocol into the company's token exchange platform and spearheaded her own project there to prevent child labour in the chocolate supply chain. Over the summer, she got to conduct research on smart contract evolution under the guidance of a professor at the University of Waterloo as well. As she grew her network in the blockchain enterprise solutions community, she has also gotten the chance to moderate fireside chats with leaders in the blockchain industry and spark insightful conversations on the potential of blockchain in ESG. She hopes to take her work in blockchain further by delving into IoT, bridging the gap between hardware and software so that she can innovate with the synergized power of both. BAXE is not just a platform, it’s an ecosystem with a vision to take back the internet. As CEO and co founder Christian Moore explains: “This is our mission; I have been blessed by a team of highly intelligent capable executives who are passionate about our dream to use blockchain and Web3 technology to make a difference and put control back into the hands of the community and the world.” Or to describe it another way, the team behind BAXE call it the world’s first DLT based super app. The BAXE Management team has diverse and relevant career backgrounds to contemplate such a major opus: Moore’s background is legal and finance, COO Andrew Broad capital markets technology CTO Dylan Blankenship is blockchain development, CFO James Maher is a CFA and market analyst and CMO Ben Lightfoot’s is in digital media, Facebook to be more precise. Much like the app the team is also decentralised across Australia and Asia, their careers have also brought them into the intersection of West meets East in terms of technology and business models which has fuelled the thinking behind the BAXE super app. Listen to podcast to hear more Your host is Jillian Godsil, award winning journalist, broadcaster and author - her latest book can be found here https://persons-of-interest.io/

Interview with Artur Pszczolkowski, CMO and VP of GamerHash Formed in 2017, GamerHash is a well-established project with just under 1 million users and a solid commercial base. In fact, given the commercial premise of the project, it is surprising there are not more copycat companies following their business model. However, it would be hard to catch up now given their early player advantage. In a nutshell, GamerHash combines unused CPU and GPU of gamer devices to mine cryptocurrencies. It only works on gamer devices with their powerful graphics cards. There is no extra electricity consumed, in fact it takes advantage of the electricity already being used. The software automatically selects which cryptocurrencies to mine from a basket of twelve. The user is unaware of the details but receives a reward in Bitcoin. The cost of these gamer machines is typically between $4000 and $5000. The more powerful machines are capable of mining more cryptocurrency, but an average machine can generate approximately $100 a month – enough to pay for bills or purchasing digital services or items, while the more powerful machines can earn around $250 per month, providing a possible decent payback of just over a year. So, the gamer who typically has the machine on 24x7 can earn a passive income without expending extra cost. To find out more, listen to the podcast. CyberArk recently released new research from researcher Ido Hoorvitch who recently went on a mission in his hometown of Tel Aviv to uncover how many WiFi networks he could crack with one simple trick, much like Alan Turing in his quest to crack the Enigma code. Ronan talks to Ido about this and more. Ido talks about his background, why he decided to uncover how many WiFi networks he could crack with one simple trick, and what he found. Ido also gives tips on how enterprises and consumers can protect themselves, and if there is any other potential hacks that could cause concern. More about Ido’s research: After sniffing 5,000 WiFi hashes and installing hashcat, Ido was able to execute several cracking attacks that took advantage of a habit most people in Israel have -- using their cellphone number or a weak alternative as their Wi-Fi password. Using this method, he easily broke more than 70% of the sniffed WiFi networks' passwords. This should be a wake-up call for enterprises and consumers alike. The continued move to hybrid work has expanded an already porous corporate security perimeter. The routers that were susceptible to this attack, from many of the world’s largest vendors, are used by households and businesses worldwide. The hack Ido did was ‘undetectable’ and couldn’t have been stopped by two-factor authentication, making it incredibly powerful.

The Artistic Expression of War to Improve the Environment and Re-establish Masculine Identity with Bran Symondson Bran Symondson is a British photographer, artist, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and art collector. He is considered to be one of the most acclaimed reportage photographers of the 21st Century. Bran started his career in the 1990s working alongside renowned photographers such as Gavin Bond, David La Chapelle, and Nadav Kander. In 2004, Bran started the selection process to join the British Army Special Forces Reserves. After completing pre-deployment training in 2007, Bran was deployed to Afghanistan, Helmand Province. During the tour in Afghanistan, Bran continued to capture images on his camera of the civilians he met along the way, collating images of the land and people - he vowed to himself he will create some inspiring art if he ever made it back to London. He documented his life-changing experiences under gunfire with a simple Canon G9 camera, these significant images culminated in his first show “The Best View of Heaven is from Hell”. The photographs Bran took of young Afghanistan boys holding decorated AK47s with butterfly stickers and flowers gave Bran the idea to embellish the assault rifle with money and butterflies. It was during his last tour of duty training the Afghan National Police (ANP), which now patrols this province, that Symondson became fascinated with the force’s distinctive ethos. So he returned as a civilian photographer “embedded” with them to document something far more unique than the endless fields of opium. The Sunday Times decided to commission Bran to go back to Afghanistan and re-shoot the images as a civilian photographer. After being awarded the 2011 Amnesty International Media Award for his photograph “Lost Boys”, Symondson decided to develop the concept of his photographs further and he began to work on the sell-out show “AKA Peace”.
